Suphatra Koirala, M.D., Obstetrics Gynecology Dr. Koirala has been a consultant Gynecologist to the Travel Medicine Center since 1988 providing high quality service to patients in the areas of prenatal/postnatal care, routine gynecology as well as gynecologic and obstetric emergencies. She is fluent in Thai in addition to English and Nepali.
Kishore Pandey M.R.C.P Pediatrics Dr. Kishore Pandey joined the Travel Medicine Center in 1998 as a consultant pediatrician . He brings 15 years of practice experience from the UK in Pediatrics and Neonatology. Dr Pandey worked full time in the clinic from 2006 to 2009.
| David R.Shlim, M. D., Research Director Dr. Shlim was the Medical Director of The Travel Medicine Center from 1983-1998. He currently lives in Jackson Hole, Wyoming where he serves as Medical Director of Jackson Hole Travel and Tropical Medicine. He recently published a book called Medicine and Compassion: A Tibetan Lama`s Guidance for Caregivers. He continues to be involved in the Travel Medicine Center`s research program in Nepal.
Deepak Mahara M.S. Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr Mahara qualified from Andhra University, India in 1985 and undertook his post graduate studies in Orthopedic Surgery at Chandgarth, India qualifying in 1993. Later he spent 6 months studying orthopedics and trauma at Alfred Hospital in Melbourn Australia and 6 months at Singapore General Hospital studying sports medicine. Dr Mahara is currently professor of the Orthopedic department at TU Teaching Hopsital, Kathmandu. He is the visiting orthopedic surgeon for the clinic and sees our patients on a regular basis.
Benu Lohani, M.D. RadiologistDr. Benu Lohani did her medical schooling at Madras University, India and her radiology degree from PGI Chandigarh. She is an associate professor at the TU Teaching Hospital and has been working there since 1998. She joined the CIWEC clinic from 2007 after the x-ray and ultrasound department was established. Jyoti Bhattarai, M.D. Internist and EndocrinologistDr. Bhattarai did her residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism at SUNY Upstate Medical University at Syracuse, New York and was in private practice at Syracuse for number of years before moving back to Nepal. Dr. Bhattarai is dual board certified . * Board Certified Internist by American Board of Internal Medicine* Board Certified Endocrinologist (Sub-specialty Board on Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism by American Board of Internal Medicine). She joined the clinic team in August 2007. Arun Raj Kunwar, M.D. Adult, Child and Adolescent PsychiatristDr. Kunwar did his residency in Psychiatry (General and Adult) and fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at SUNY Upstate Medical University at Syracuse, New York. where he was Assistant Professor. He provides individual therapy, family therapy and medication management for children, adolescents and adults. Dr. Kunwar has been working in the clinic since 2008 and is fluent in Nepali and English. Ishwar Lohani, M.S. Plastic Surgeon Dr. Ishwar Lohani is a visiting plastic surgeon at the clinic. He achieved his plastic surgery degree at PGI Chandigarth, India in 1997 following which he spent a year in Los Angeles and San Franscisco and six weeks in England undertaking further training in plastic surgery. He is presently working as professor of surgery at the TU Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu.
In addition to the above we also have specialist consultants in Dermatology, Urology and Infectious Disease`s visiting the clinic on a regular basis. | | | | |
